Osimhen is the fifth Nigerian to win the CAF POTY award, and the last to do so since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
Interestingly, Oshoala and Osimhen’s victory also went into the record books as it marks the first time that a player from the same country has won the male or female player of the year award.
