Super Eagles aim for fourth African title but Ossai-Samuel expects to face strong resistance
Super Eagles defender Bright Ossai Samuel has admitted that he expects strong resistance from Nigeria’s opponents in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, reports Soccer.
Nigeria will travel to Ivory Coast next year to play against other parts of the African continent as they aim to win their fourth African title.
The Super Eagles have not won since 2013, but are one of the favorites to win next year. Furthermore, under the guidance of coach Jose Peceiro, we had to deliver results in many situations, so I didn’t have much confidence.
Nigeria is in Group A of AFCON along with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea. In theory, Ivory Coast should be the only challenge for the super Eagles.
However, Nigerian defender Osai-Samuel doesn’t think so. He believes that there will be more motivation every time another team plays against Nigeria.
“I think it will be difficult for every team,” Osai-Samuel told Naija Football.
“Everyone will try to beat Nigeria because we are in the tournament because we carry so much weight and we are playing a big football Because we have the nation and our team.” That’s why every game matters. It must be difficult. ”
The Super Eagles will begin their AFCON campaign on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea.
