‘Enough Is Enough’ – Wasim Akram Lashes Out At ‘Fake News’ On Social Media Following Pakistan’s Asia Cup Exit

Wasim Akram made a post today (September 19) asking people not to believe what he described as the fake news circulating on social media, adding to a string of controversial stories surrounding Pakistan cricket of late.

Akram said in a post on Twitter that people need to stop believing everything on social media and believing that fake news breeds hatred. “People need to stop assuming everything on social media is true,” he wrote. “It’s always easier to believe the bad than the good.

“Fake news causes unnecessary controversy in our region, incites hatred, and deepens the rift between our two countries, which our countries no longer need. Enough is enough!”< /p>

Recent comments attributed to Akram are said to have questioned the performance of the Sri Lankan team in the 2023 Asian Cup finals, and there was “collusion” between him and Akram behind the scenes. He has made statements that suggest possibility. India and Sri Lanka will try to ensure India wins.

Although Mr. Akram did not specifically mention this, his post may refer to this viral quote.

This is the latest controversy that has arisen in Pakistan cricket recently. Yesterday (September 18), reports emerged that Pakistan’s white-ball vice-captain Shadab Khan may lose his leadership role in the World Cup.

Daily Jan reports that Shadab could lose his vice-captainship, with leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed being chosen first, potentially making him a part of the World Cup squad. It was reported that he may even lose his seat. Abrar has been brilliant so far in his short Test career but is yet to make his ODI debut.

Abrar was not included in the starting lineup for Karachi Whites’ match in the second round of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament. Some believe it was a precautionary measure to keep him out of the four days of intense competition ahead of the World Cup.

Pakistan’s rude exit from the 2023 Asian Cup is causing a stir. Two of the team’s best fast bowlers, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, were injured. The latter may even have to miss the entire World Cup.

After Pakistan’s loss to Sri Lanka, there were also reports that there was an internal conflict in the dressing room and the players were ejected from the tournament. According to Bolnews, captain Babar Azam and seamer Shaheen Afridi got into a disagreement in the locker room after the match.

Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
