The great striker has been with the Hatters since 2021, but what he experienced on Saturday will be the most memorable
Elijah Adebayo made history for Luton Town as the Hatters recorded their first win in the English Premier League, Soccernet.ng reported.
Struggling Luton Town disappointed bookmakers with an impressive 2-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park in Saturday’s lunchtime game.
Luton Town won promotion in the Championship play-offs last season, but the Premier League was difficult terrain for them to adapt to.
The Hatters lost four of their first five games in the top flight this season, drawing in the second leg before facing Everton at Goodison Park.
However, the afternoon got off to a perfect start as they scored two goals in the first 30 minutes thanks to two great set-pieces.
Tom Lockyer scored the opening goal from close range to give the visitors the lead. Carlton Morris then volleyed past Alfie Doty’s excellent free-kick to beat Pickford.
Everton responded well and Dominic Calvert-Lewin halved the Toffees’ lead four minutes before half-time.
The home side gave their all against Luton, but Adebayo came on as a substitute in the 78th minute and helped the Premier League newcomers maintain their lead.
With this win, Luton Town move to 17th place in the EPL standings with four points from six games. The Hatters are trailing Everton on goal difference and will be hoping for another three points against Burnley on Tuesday.
