“Eddie gets goals” – Alex Iwobi backs Nketiah to make Arsenal’s striking spot his own following Jesus injury

Alex Iwobi left Arsenal after the 2019 Europa League final to join the Toffees before joining Fulham on deadline day last summer.

Super Eagles midfielder Alexander Chuka Iwobi has backed Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to make the most of Gabriel Jesus’ injury layoff, reports Soccernet.ng Ta.

Nketiah scored a hat-trick in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Sheffield United last weekend, replacing the injured Gabriel Jesus. Jesus is expected to miss the next few weeks with a muscular injury.

Iwobi, who played with Nketiah from the famous Hale End academy to the first team, backed the Ghanaian as one of the players to make the rise from the academy to the first team in an old interview from 2017. /p>

“Eddie Nketiah is a guy who just finds his target. I don’t know how, but he has the instinct to get the ball and put it in the net on maybe one chance a game. He is someone who can find goals not only for Arsenal but also for England,” Iwobi said in a quote from Just Arsenal.

Nketiah, 24, recently made his debut for the Three Lions of England in a 1-0 win over Australia and was once again praised by his former team-mates for his progress.

“Eddie is someone who believed in himself from a young age and with him goals are guaranteed. “It’s always difficult to be Arsenal’s main striker,” Iwobi said. Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast.

“They had Gabriel Jesus and many great strikers before him and he had to be patient. He had to go out on loan but still scored goals. He makes decisions and doesn’t stop working, which I think Arteta appreciates highly,” added the 27-year-old.

However, Iwobi left the Emirates Stadium in 2019 for Everton and ultimately moved to Fulham in August.
