ATP Rankings: Davis Cup causes stagnant week for top players

This week was a big one for men’s professional tennis, as players such as Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Ruhn represented their countries at the Davis Cup. However, as a result, the ATP ranking remained almost the same as the previous week

While Davis Cup is a very prestigious tournament, there are no ranking points and the focus is solely on playing for national pride.

Big Movers

While there were no major tour events on this week’s calendar, a Challenger tournament was held that allowed lower-ranked players to gradually work their way up the ATP rankings.

The biggest mover in the top 100 this week was Federico Coria. The Argentine moved up 14 places after winning the ATP Challenger event in Szczecin, Poland.

Another breakthrough player is Linky Hijikata, who continues to set new career highs and is currently ranked 72nd in the world.

Two of last week’s biggest losers were Corentin Moutet and Michael Mo, with the former dropping 25 places to outside the top 100.

There should be more big moves in the rankings next week as the ATP Tour returns to China for the first time since 2019.
