Makhachev is the lightweight champion and holds the belt previously held by Conor McGregor. Moreover, the Russian is a prodigy of McGregor’s nemesis, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is trained under the “Eagle.” So it’s no wonder McGregor and Makhachev aren’t best friends.
Conor McGregor targets Islam Makhachev, questions P4P ranking, claims steroid use
McGregor posted on MMA’s current #1 P4P. What a sport! ”The laughing emoji at the end reflects the sarcastic tone of the post. He also posted a photo of Makhachev’s knockout loss and an article about the Russian’s steroid abuse.
McGregor clearly disagrees with the UFC’s P4P rankings. He has always maintained that the Irishman is number one. And in this comment he believes that Makhachev should not be number one for these two reasons.
Makhachev’s first knockout loss came in 2015 at the hands of Adriano Martins. The Brazilian executed a perfect counter-attack to beat the Russian, but it was called off by the referee. And a year later, authorities found traces of meldonium, forcing Makhachev to retire from the sport for a while.
Meldonium is a prohibited substance because it regulates the body’s metabolic functions. Promotes muscle recovery by increasing oxygen flow to the affected area. This was the same drug that tennis star Maria Sharapova tested positive for. Makhachev was also implicated in this scandal among Russian athletes.
You are now done. McGregor doesn’t think Makhachev should be number one for these reasons. What do you think about these claims? And who thinks he should be the number one contender for UFC P4P? p>
