CAF Awards: Super Falcons stars Oshoala, Nnadozie, Abiodun face off with South African, Ghana, Moroccan stars in Top 3 shortlists

Several Nigerian athletes and women’s national team will shine at the awards ceremony after being shortlisted in various categories.

According to Soccernet.ng, three outstanding Nigerian players, Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nadoji and Deborah Abiodun, have secured coveted spots in the shortlists of various categories for the upcoming CAF Awards.

The Confederation of African Football today announced the shortlist of three nominees for each award category.

Asisat Oshoala continues to write her name in history as a five-time winner of the African Player of the Year (Women’s) award.

The Super Falcons and FC Barcelona striker finds himself in the top three once again and will face Zambian South Africans Thembi Kgatlana and Barbara Banda.

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadojie was not shortlisted for the Player of the Year award, but is still in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Nnadzi is poised to compete with Morocco’s Khadija Elmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini for the coveted goalkeeper award.

In addition to the Nigeria international, Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun secured a place in the top three for the Young Player of the Year (Female) award. She shares the spotlight with Ghana’s Comfort Yeboah and Morocco’s Nesrin El Chad.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are a strong contender for the National Team of the Year (Women’s) award following their impressive performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. They have played against Morocco and South Africa, both of whom have made their mark on the world stage.

Shifting focus to other categories, the Coach of the Year (men’s) race features Senegal’s Aliou Cissé, Morocco’s Walid Leglaghi and Algerian coach Abdelhak Benca from USM Algiers.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly, Wydad and Mamelodi Sundowns will be competing for the title of Club of the Year (Men), while AS FAR, Sporting Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns will be competing for the Club of the Year (Men’s) title. She is competing for the women’s title.
