Bottas reveals raising more than $150k from his calendar shoot

Valtteri Bottas claims to have raised more than $150,000 from Movember charities after releasing a calendar that exposed his butt.

At the end of November, Sauber’s Bottas revealed for the first time details of the amount he had raised for the Movember charity. Apart from the usual mustache style, the Finns took it a step further this year by introducing their own calendar.

It was not a calendar, but his nude photo shoots in various locations, mainly showing his buttocks. This moment went viral in recent years when he first tried to make it funny a few years ago. Since then, he has repeated this several times before pursuing a full-fledged path.

The calendar was launched ahead of the Abu Dhabi GP and was a success, raising more than $150,000, according to Bottas. “last day of Movember, thank you for your support in November,” he wrote on social media. “Through donations and calendars we have raised a huge amount of money for Movember, which means we have really helped and will save many lives.”

“The final numbers will be calculated in the next few days, but they say the funds raised will be around $150,000. ” he said. about While thinking about this move, Bottas explained how it came about with his photographer friend Paul Lipke, who was part of the Mercedes F1 team.

This was born after seeing the popularity of his last chance shot and thinking of creating a complete calendar for charity work. His family was also surprised to see it, but once Bottas explained the idea behind it, they agreed to the move.

“I posted this photo in Aspen last year and it got a lot of attention,” Bottas began. “And we actually raised quite a bit of money. I work with Lipke a lot, so he’s a good friend of the photographer, and then we started joking around about the idea. “Imagine if you had a complete calendar.”

“And then as we got closer to the Movember month of November, we started thinking, could we actually do this, could we do something really, really good? And we said, “Yes, let’s do it, but There’s a good reason for that,” I decided. I think this is primarily for prostate cancer research and for a good cause. Movember takes this very seriously.

“I know several people whose loved ones have had issues like this. And even men, like Movember who talks about men’s health, many people don’t talk about these things. And I tried my best to present myself and try to be an example. As a human body, there’s no need to be ashamed.”

Bottas added of his family’s reaction: She said, “I got a message from her mother, and she was like, ‘What is that?” She didn’t understand much English either. And she saw some of the videos I posted and was pretty confused and protective. Example: “Are you sure this is the path you want to take?”

“So I explained about charity, and that’s fine. I had questions and people asked, ‘Why did you do that?’ For example, why do you want to show your butt? But then, when I explained the philanthropic side of things, people kind of understood. And as you can imagine, we had a lot of fun taking photos.

“The art gallery (in Las Vegas) opened on Monday, and the people who came there had no idea what to expect. Then we started showing each print step by step. At the time, they were very confused and were like, “What’s going on here?” But then they got the idea that it was funny and for a good reason. . It was a lot of fun. ”
