Tammy Beaumont has been recalled for England Women’s T20I squad for their tour of New Zealand in March, with WPL players confirmed to be available from the fourth T20I onwards.
England have announced three teams for the tour of New Zealand, with the A team selected along with the T20I and ODI teams. Key selections for the T20I squad include Beaumont returning after playing his last T20I over two years ago. Beaumont recorded his first century in 2023 and finished the tournament with the second-highest number of runs, leading to calls for his resignation.
Nat Cyber-Blunt, Sophie Ecclestone, Danny Wyatt and Alice Capsey have been cleared to play from the fourth match of the T20I series after the WPL. Last week, on the eve of the first T20I, it was reported that any English players remaining in the WPL until the end would be unavailable for the entire series. Head coach John Lewis, who coaches UP Warriors in the WPL, will leave the tournament early to face England on March 12 for his week of preparation before the tour.
Jonathan Finch, Director of England Women’s Cricket, said: “The time period between the end of the WPL and the first IT20 in New Zealand was only a day or two, so we had to balance this with the challenge of managing the long-term workload of our players. participation and provides clarity to a group of players preparing for the first three IT20s.

“As a result, we were able to name two IT20 teams and field WPL players for games 4 and 5 of the series.” All players participating in the WPL are given the following: Necessary support will be provided during the competition. The tournament was allowed to stay in India. ”
Holly Armitage and Lindsay Smith were both named in the T20I squad for the first three T20Is before WPL players joined the group. Armitage was selected for the India A tour in November, but he had not yet made his international debut. Smith has not played an international match since 2019 and has played in nine of his T20Is.
Mahika Gaur was left out of both the senior and junior squads after taking part in England’s T20I tour to India last year. Freya Kemp will join the senior team as a batsman as she continues her recovery from a back injury. Kemp suffered a stress fracture in his back after England’s tour to the Caribbean in December 2022.
Kirsty Gordon will lead the senior team in the three-match T20 series, while Grace Scrivens will captain the ODI series.
