On November 29, 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the extension of the contracts of India’s head coach Rahul Dravid and support staff. The BCCI has also extended the tenure of India’s support staff Vikram Rathour (batting coach), Paras Mambray (bowling coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach).
The BCCI has not specified the length of the extension, but it is expected to last at least until the T20 World Cup in June 2024. The BCCI wanted Dravid to stay to maintain the structure they had built over the past two years, but hiring a new coach could upset the structure.
Dravid was appointed head coach in November 2021 on a two-year contract, which ended earlier this month with the conclusion of the 2023 One-Day International World Cup.
