Bayer Leverkusen boss praises Tella for performance in UEL victory at Molde

The star player who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles joined Welkself in the summer and has finally made his breakthrough

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso praised Nigerian striker Nathan Tella for his side’s 2-1 win over Molde, Soccer reported.

Tella moved from Southampton to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer in a deal worth 23.3 million euros. Manager Xabi Alonso has used him sparingly since his appointment, making just three appearances before Thursday’s game against Molde.

Tella was included in the starting lineup when Werkself traveled to the Aker Stadium for a match against Norwegian top club Molde.

Werkself took the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from Jeremy Frimpong. And four minutes after him, Terra doubled his lead. The 24-year-old made it 2-0 with a powerful shot into the net after Adam Frozek’s goal. The match at Aaker Stadium ended 2-1 and Alonso had some nice words for the English-born striker after the match.

“The first half was good. Our three strikers did exactly what I wanted them to do,” he said.Alonso

said.

“Nathan Tella’s first goal was great. We prepared well. There were moments when we were playing for the result, not the game. We defended the result. If you want to, it can happen.”

Following his goal and Alonso’s comments, Tela could well be named in the starting eleven against Cologne on Sunday.
