Australia Win The Toss; Both Teams Unchanged

India and Australia have both gone in with unchanged playing XIs for the final of the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today (Sunday, November 19).

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first at the summit, with Australian captain Pat Cummins stating the rationale for the decision. The ball has already been affected by humidity in previous matches in Ahmedabad, with spinner Adam Zampa saying after the match against England on November 4, “In fact, it (the ground) got wet quite early on.” “It was probably faster than we expected.” /p>

Australia will have no changes to their squad and will play with the same team that faced South Africa in the semi-final at Eden Gardens.

India also went into the match unchanged, opting to keep Mohammed Siraj in the starting lineup in place of R Ashwin. India may have been tempted to play an off-spinner as the pitch is judged to be slow and Australia face the threat of two left-armers at the top of the pecking order, but the team that has started in the last six matches I chose to persist.

Ever since Hardik Pandya’s injury against Bangladesh, India made no changes to their squad, replacing Pandya and Shardul Thakur with Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami.
