Atletico Madrid loanee snubs Nigerian national team for Spain opportunity

Nigerian national striker Sam Omolodion has accepted the opportunity to play for the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reported.

The Deportivo Alavés striker, who is currently on loan from Atletico Madrid, has openly revealed that he is not currently considering playing for Nigeria. Instead, he thanked Spain for giving him an important opportunity in football.

Omorodion played a particularly important role in Luis García’s team and showed his talent by scoring the second-fastest goal against Barcelona at the Camp Nou Stadium before the international break.

His performance, along with other players such as Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey and Nathan Tella, has raised expectations among Nigerian football fans for a possible move to Nigeria.

Despite expectations, Omorodion appears to have decided not to play for the Nigeria national team.

“I am very grateful to Spain because it gave me the opportunity. I am not thinking about Nigeria. My goal is to make my debut with the first national team and start my career here in Spain. to build,” Omorodion said, as quoted by AS.
