Andy Murray ‘is the biggest fighter’ claims British No.1
Andy Murray has announced his intention to retire after this summer, with compatriot Katie Boulter describing the former number one as an “inspiration”.
Murray was asked yesterday about his future in the sport after his second round loss in Dubai and said: “Well, I mean, I probably won’t be playing any more this summer.”
“I get asked about this after every match and tournament I play. To be honest, I get tired of that question. I’m not going to talk about it anytime, but yeah, I don’t plan on playing for long this summer.”

Boulter reacted to the news after winning the WTA 500 tournament in San Diego, expressing his belief that Murray should retire on his own accord.
“Andy Murray is Andy Murray. He’s the best fighter, he’s the best tennis lover, you know what he’s got. He’s been able to last so long,” WTA UK said. Person No. 1 said. “He has been an inspiration to many players, especially in our country, and especially myself. I love watching him compete.”
The world No. 49 continued: “As long as he’s having fun and getting what he wants from the sport, I think that’s the most important thing. When he retires, I think it’s in line with what he wants to do and what he really wants to do. ”I can echo the sentiments of many who loved watching him play. I definitely think so. ”
Boulter will continue his run Friday in San Diego before traveling to Indian Wells, where Murray may also make his final appearance.
In the baseline…
We all know how big of an asset Andy Murray is to British tennis, so it’s great to hear such kind words about her compatriot from Katie Boulter . The most important thing she said was that Murray deserved to retire on her own terms, and yesterday the Briton expressed frustration that she kept being asked the same question. Perhaps Murray’s retirement could coincide with an interesting mixed doubles partnership with Boulter at the Olympics, if both players still qualify.
