Alex Pereira etched his name into UFC history with another classic victory last weekend. The Brazilian defeated Jiri Prochaska to become the UFC light heavyweight champion. And given his recent wins, we note that Pereira has set an interesting pattern of breaking other players’ win streaks in his UFC.

Pereira faced Prochaska in the main event of UFC 295 last weekend. The Brazilian fought through a difficult first round and knocked out the Czech fighter in the second round. So in just his seven fights in the UFC, Pereira has won his two belts and defeated four former or current UFC champions.

An account to end a long undefeated streak or winning streak in the UFC. In his second fight in the UFC, Pereira defeated Bruno Silva. Silva is on a seven-fight winning streak and he was 3-0 in the UFC before losing to Pereira.
The light heavyweight champion then faced Sean Strickland to retain the title. And Strickland came into this fight with a 6-0 winning streak at middleweight. But Pereira also made short work of the American.
Pereira then fought arch-rival Israel Adesanya for the belt. And Adesanya has an incredible record of 22 wins and 0 losses in the middleweight division. His only loss was against Jan Blachowicz in the light heavyweight division. However, Pereira knocked out Adesanya, ending his winning streak.
And last weekend, Pereira did the same thing against Jiri Prochaska. The Czech fighter was 3-0 in the UFC. However, he went on a 13-fight winning streak, including fights outside of the UFC. He did it over and over again. His last knockout loss occurred over 10 years ago. Despite this, Pereira not only defeated Prochaska, but suffered her first knockout loss in over a decade.
