Alex Iwobi: Former Everton and Watford manager backs Super Eagles star to be a hit at Fulham

The Nigeria international has only been playing at Craven Cottage for a few weeks

Fulham manager Marco Silva is confident new signing Alex Iwobi will be a key player for the team following his impressive performance against Norwich City in the third round of the EFL Cup, Soccernet.ng reports. Reported.

Nigerian international Iwobi played a key role in Fulham’s 2-1 win, setting up Carlos Vinicius’ opening goal and scoring himself in the second half.

The goal was Iwobi’s first for Fulham since joining in the summer from Everton, where he previously won the Player of the Year award.

However, the Super Eagles playmaker has had a somewhat lackluster time at Goodison Park, with some blaming frequent coaching changes at Everton for this.

Silva, who recruited Iwobi from Arsenal to Everton in 2019 while he was Everton manager, expressed confidence that the player could shine at Craven Cottage.

According to London News Online, Silva said, “I know he is a player who can add value to us in a variety of positions,” stressing that he was well aware of Iwobi’s abilities.

“I know him well. I was the one who signed him at Everton. His quality and energy will be important for us.”

Iwobi contributed 40 goals in 149 appearances during his time at Arsenal, but his performance at Everton was more modest with just nine goals and 16 assists in 140 games.
