“Address me as a Chief”- AFCON hero Stanley Nwabali puts Bayer Leverkusen ace Victor Boniface in his place

Nwabari was one of the best players in Ivory Coast AFCON and won the title of chieftain in Port Harcourt.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali says he asked Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface to call him ‘boss’ during a friendly exchange on InstagramSoccernet.ng Thereported. p>

Nwabari was a revelation at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. The Chippa United star replaced Francis Uzoho, whose reliability was questionable, and performed well for the Super Eagles.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper kept four clean sheets during the tournament and saved two penalties in the semi-final against South Africa. Unfortunately, Nwabali was unable to contribute to his team’s victory in the final as the team lost to Ivory Coast 2-1.

After their performance at AFCON, Super Eagles players and staff were awarded national honors and assets by the federal government.

Mr. Nwabari gained even more from the welcome he received from the Rivers State government. The Nigerian goalkeeper was also conferred with the title of Chieftain of Egbema Kingdom last week.

It is clear from his social media posts that Nwabali has not returned to Chippa United.

Recently, Nwabari had a friendly exchange with Boniface on Instagram. Nwabali shared a video of himself wearing Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen jersey from his home. Boniface then replied to the tweet, asking when he would play for his club again.

He also shared a video of him winning the title of Chieftain with his hometown former Chippa United. He captioned it: “Then let Igwe stay in the village.”

Nwabari then quoted Nwabari’s post and replied, “Mr. Oga addressed me as the chief.”

Chippa United will return to the South African Premier League on March 1, so Nwabali should be back in action by then.
