Ademola Lookman praises ‘intelligent’ Belgian star after Atalanta’s victors

Ademola Lookman has been in great form for the Black and Blues, establishing himself as a formidable attacker after a poor spell at the end of the 2022-23 season. >

Atalanta and Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman was full of praise for Belgian midfielder Charles de Ketelaer after the win against Cagliari, Soccernet.ng reported.

The former AC Milan player continued his excellent form and this time provided the assist that led to Lookman’s second goal of the Serie A season.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side took the lead in the 33rd minute when De Quetelaele intercepted a ball from midfield and sent a precise cross to the Nigeria international, who fired into an empty goal.

After the game, Lookman had nothing but praise for the 22-year-old midfielder for his perfect pass and for his team, which secured all three points.

De Quetelaele and Lookman had earlier exchanged passes that extended Atalanta’s lead against the Islanders, but their efforts went unrewarded.

After the win at the Jewys Stadium, Lookman praised De Quetelaere, who joined Atalanta on loan from AC Milan.

“He’s a very intelligent player. I’m happy to play with him. We have a great team and I enjoy playing with everyone. ”Lookman told Sportsface.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini also praised the Belgian’s brilliance after the match.

As quoted by Gianluca di Marzio, Gasperini said: “De Quetelaere played really well in the first half. He made very few errors and his quality and clarity helped him in his attacking play. His assist on the goal was also valuable.”

Atalanta face Verona away at the Jewis Stadium on Wednesday, aiming to close the gap in the top four, currently sitting fourth in Serie A and just one point behind Juventus.
