Not Trent Boult Or Shaheen Afridi, Rohit Sharma Picks Former South African Legend As The Toughest Bowler He Has Faced

India captain Rohit Sharma has named South African pacer Dale the toughest bowler he has faced in international cricket, ignoring the likes of Australia’s Mitchell Johnson, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi. He mentioned Stein. The 36-year-old is one of the best openers of modern times, having played against top-class bowlers during cricket’s heyday.

Rohit Sharma was an incredible opener for the Indian team in all three formats of the game. Rohit made his debut for India in ODI format in 2007. His career has taken a huge turn since he was appointed as an opening batsman in 2013, establishing himself as one of the best opening batsmen in world cricket.

The left-arm pacer has long been a nightmare for the Indian captain as he has struggled against the likes of Trent Boult, Mitchell Starc, Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi in recent times. When asked, Rohit Sharma named South African legend Dale Steyn as the toughest bowler of his career and the most difficult player to play against in cricket.

“Dale Steyn was one of the toughest bowlers you could play against. His work ethic, discipline and ability with the new ball were always a challenge, but I loved playing against him. I loved it,” Rohit Sharma told IANS.

Since his return to the Indian team in 2013, he has set standards for other players. Few players can match his skills in limited-overs cricket, but the Indian veteran had struggled to find form in recent years until the tide turned from his 2023 Asia Cup tournament in Sri Lanka.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma joins the elite list by scoring 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. It took him 248 ODIs and 241 innings to reach this milestone, making him the second fastest Indian player to reach the mark after Virat Kohli (205 innings). This is followed by Sachin Tendulkar (259 innings).

Rohit Sharma’s good form will be crucial for the success of the Indian team in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 as the team will demand the best performance from him for the mega event.

The Indian team will be hoping to take part in the main event as they have a well-balanced team capable of winning the coveted title on home soil.
