EPL: Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina face tough challenge as Manchester City prevails against Nottingham Forest

Steve Coopers’ side lost 2-0 to Manchester City, their third defeat in the English Premier League.

Two Super Eagles stars, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina, played for Nottingham Forest in a difficult match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, according to Soccernet.ng I am reporting.

After securing a point with Vincent Kompany’s 1-1 draw with Burnley last weekend, Forest now face a tougher opponent in the Cityzens.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden made early contributions to ensure victory for Pep Guardiola’s side. Foden opened the scoring in the seventh minute after receiving a beautiful pass from Kyle Walker, immediately firing his shot past Matt Turner.

Seven minutes later, Haaland extended the home team’s lead. He took advantage of a deft lofted pass from Matheus Nunez and headed the ball into the net from close range to make it 2–0.

Awonyi showed promise for the visiting team, but faced strong resistance from Manchester City’s strong defense. In a close call, Anthony Elanga tried to find Awoniyi with a pass, but he put too much emphasis on the pass and the visitors missed the chance.

Awonyi and Aina were replaced in the 76th minute by Chris Wood and Divock Origi, ending their involvement in the match.

Nottingham Forest play Brentford FC at the City Ground on October 1st. Awoniyi hopes to use his scoring ability to help his team win.
