Two players of Nigerian descent turned heads at the Stade du Moustoire

Super Eagles midfielder Bongke Innocent was absent as FC Lorient held AS Monaco to a 2-2 draw in Ligue 1 matchday 5 on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reported.

Innocent played just four minutes in Ligue 1 this season, but his absence could not be explained by either Lorient or the players.

For the match against Monaco, Lorient coach Regis Le Bris placed Julien Ponceau and Laurent Abergel in the center of the park.

The tactical set-up seemed to work as Benin Republic striker Egun Tosin gave the home team the lead in the second minute.

However, Monaco responded perfectly 15 minutes later with a great shot from Russian winger Alexander Golovin.

Nothing separated the teams until the 69th minute, when former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, who had come on as a substitute, gave Monaco the lead for the first time in the game two minutes earlier.

However, in the second half of stoppage time, Lorient’s number 10, Romain Febvre, scored the equalizer, securing the points for the guests.

With these points, Monaco are at the top of Ligue 1 with 11 points, ahead of second-placed Reims with 10 points and OGC Nice with nine points.

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi scored two goals and provided an assist for another team with a great performance to give Nice a 2-3 win away to Kylian Mbappé’s PSG.
