Watch: Mohammed Siraj Uproots Off-Stump With Away-Swinging Beauty To Complete Rapid, Record-Equalling Five-For

Watch: Mohammed Siraj bowled an unplayable outswinger that squared up Dasun Shanaka and cleaned up his off-stump to reach a world-record-equalling five-for in the Asia Cup final today (September 17) against Sri Lanka.

Sirazi showed off his swing and seam bowling to break down Sri Lanka’s batting line-up in the Asia Cup final held in Colombo today (September 17). Siraj came on in the fourth over of the innings after Jasprit Bumrah took the lead in scoring for India by wicketing the third ball of the match.

Pathum Nissanka was dismissed on the first ball of the 4th over. After the in-form Sadira Samarawickrama was trapped on the third ball, Charis Atharanka spooned the fourth ball to score Siraj’s third run of the over.

As if that wasn’t enough, he got Dhananjaya de Silva behind him on the last ball of the over and scored an over that almost decided the match within the first 30 minutes.

But Shirazi was not finished yet. In the next over, he dismissed Shanaka with a world-class outswinger, putting the batsman in the perfect position and body-slamming him against the stumps.

This was only the 16th ball bowled by Siraj in the match, making it the fastest five-for in ODI cricket history, along with Chaminda Vaas’s 6-25 against Bangladesh in the 2003 ODI World Cup.

Siraj eventually picked up another wicket and finished the match with 6-21 from seven overs, with Sri Lanka bowed out for 50, their lowest total in ODI history against India.
