Highlights: Markram Makes Perfectly Paced Ton, Coetzee Rattles Stumps To Give South Africa First Win Of Tour

Watch: South Africa won their first match in the bi-format white-ball home series against Australia. They beat them by 111 runs in the third ODI of the five-match series in Potchefstroom on September 12.

South Africa, who lost three T20Is and two ODIs, lost the toss and were sent into battle by Australia. They got off to a strong start with Quinton de Kock and Themba Bavuma scoring 146 in 22.5 overs.

De Kock was out on 82 of 77 balls, followed shortly after by Bavuma. Batting at number 4, Aiden Markram scored his second ODI ton, orchestrating his innings perfectly and remaining unbeaten on 102 off just 74 balls. Marco Jansen‘s late strike took South Africa past his 330 overs and they finished with his 338-6 after 50 overs.

Almost all of Australia’s bowlers scored runs, but Travis Head scored just 39 within his 10-over quota and took two wickets.

Australia’s opening pair, David Warner and Head, came out in full force. They raced to 79 within eight overs when the head was caught bySisanda Magara at mid-on.

Mitchell Marsh, Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis all reached double figures, but Australia’s fast-paced pursuit meant no one could break the 30-point mark. Gerald Coetzee used his pace to work his way out from the bottom, taking 4-50 in 6.3 overs.

Spin duo Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj also contributed, taking two wickets each as Australia were bowled out for 227 in just 34.3 overs and South Africa suffered a crushing 111-run defeat , resulting in victory and the title. The series is alive.
