One of the biggest upsets of the year occurred at UFC 285 when Alexa Grasso stunned the MMA community by defeating then-champion Valentina Shevchenko.
In case you missed it, the fifth round of the co-main event started off strong thanks to some low kicks from Grasso. Shevchenko then made a powerful move from the left side. The challenger displayed his boxing skills in a situation where the champion wanted to land a headbutt. This round was a very competitive one, with both fighters completely dominating with takedowns.
Shevchenko gained side control in the second round and Grasso made a valiant attempt to equalize. She immediately tried to crucify her and force her to surrender, but Grasso deftly defended her and used her cage to escape.
When Grasso tried to apply more pressure, the former champion was completely out of reach. However, her boxing skills were very good. Apparently, after two rounds, the score was tied at 1. The same thing happened in round 3, and the fight got even more intense.
