The Napoli striker has shown consistent performances for both club and country in recent years
KAA Gent defender Jordan Tornalija has described Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as the best striker in the game at the moment, Soccernet.ng reports.
Tornalija and Osimhen were happy to train together for the first time in their careers as the Super Eagles prepare for the match against Sao Tome and Principe.
Osimhen has been a member of Nigeria’s senior national team since his debut in 2017, while Tornaliha was only called up to the Super Eagles for the first time this month.
After committing his international future to Nigeria, Tornalija arrived in Uyo on Wednesday to join 22 other invited guests for the final African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.
These three days gave the former Germany youth international the opportunity to get closer to the other stars of the Super Eagles on and off the training pitch.
One of the players Tornaliga played against in training is Osimhen, the most valuable player in Serie A.
Tornalija spent 16 years at Hertha Berlin before moving to Gent last year. During this time, he met some of the best talents in football, including Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland, who played for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.
And the 26-year-old defender believes that Osimhen is a tougher customer than Lewandowski or Haaland.

“And to be honest, I’ve never experienced anything like this. I don’t know how to defend him. It’s strange.
“I played against Lewandowski and Haaland and found a way to protect them. But with him I don’t know. He’s strong, but he can hold the ball. It’s difficult, but we did it. I’ll try it.”
Osimhen scored 17 goals in 25 games for three-time African champions Nigeria.
Seven of these goals were scored during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, putting him at the top of the competition’s goals list.
