After reports that India changed its name to Bharat, Virender Sehwag brutally attacked Gautam Gambhir. Mr Sehwag wants India to name his team ‘Bharat’ at his upcoming 2023 ICC World Championships.
Mr Sehwag tagged BCCI head Jay Shah for posting on Twitter that India’s Cricket Control Board called the team ‘Team Bharat’ instead of ‘Team India’. .
“Team India Nahin #Team Bharat. Bharat is on our minds when we cheer for Kohli, Rohit, Bumla and Jaddu in this World Cup and the players are written ‘Bharat’ @JayShah I hope you wear your jersey,” he wrote.
“I always thought I should have been an MP before Gautam Gambhir,” wrote one Twitter user. The legendary player explained that athletes shouldn’t get involved in politics and don’t want to be non-executive councilors.
“I’m not interested in politics at all. I’ve been approached by both major political parties in the last two elections. I don’t think most celebrities and athletes should be politicians because Because a lot of them just run on their own ego and power and don’t spend much time with people.There are some exceptions but in general they mostly just do PR.I’m interested in cricket I love commenting with it, and would never want to be a non-executive councilor if it was convenient for me,” he wrote.
Gamhill is currently an East Delhi MP for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is often accused of ignoring his supporters in his cricket efforts.
