After the highly anticipated matchup between India and Pakistan in the 2023 Asian Cup, Shadav used Khan X to update his fans on the team’s situation. The thrilling match, eagerly awaited by cricket enthusiasts around the world, had to be called off on the night of 2nd September due to heavy rains in Kandy.
The next day, Shadav Khan presented his supporters with a nice group selfie of himself and the entire Pakistani team in preparation for their next match in Lahore.
He wrote in a tweet: “Our next match will be in Lahore. Let’s show the world how passionate our fans are. Bring your flag, passion and love.”
The tweet sparked a flood of reactions from Pakistani fans wishing the team the best of luck in the upcoming Super 4 match of the tournament.
India and Pakistan met in the opening match of the 2023 Asian Cup season at the Palekele International Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma opted to go first. Men in Blue experienced an early setback when both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were fired by Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen Afridi proved that he is a star player as he took four important wickets in the game.
Nevertheless, a resilient partnership of 138 runs between Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan saved India’s innings from imminent disaster. Despite his best efforts, Shadav Khan failed to impress, playing without wickets for the entire nine-over season. Despite that performance, Pakistan managed to keep India’s total goals conceded to 266.
