Hardik Pandya should have scored 120 runs against Pakistan: Matthew Hayden

Matthew Hayden was hoping to score 120 runs for Hardik Pandya in the 2023 Asian Cup against Pakistan in Kandy. But the Indian vice-captain completed 87 of 90 with the help of seven fours and one six. His over 100-year partnership with Ishan Kishan saw India score his 266 runs.

“Hardick will be disappointed in himself as he could have hit 120 with his shot style. He delivered the captain’s jab that Rohit Sharma should have. Rohit missed, but Haldik put India in a good position. He also kept Ishan moving forward,” said Matthew Hayden.

Former Indian player Ravi Shastri praised the all-rounder for keeping players blue on the hunt. “His innings kept India alive in this competition. This is a match between his IND and PAK, and you never know what will happen to Pakistan’s punching power.”
