With the 2024 T20 World Cup on the horizon, the upcoming Indian Premier League will act as a platform for 12 England players to push their case. Here’s the complete list of English contingent in IPL 2024 across the ten teams.
While Punjab Kings (PBKS) have the most number of English players (4) in their ranks, three sides – Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians – have none. Chris Woakes, bought at INR 4.20 crore in the 2024 auction, is PBKS’ latest English addition. The fast-bowling all-rounder has joined his compatriots Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow at the Punjab camp.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, who led England to their second T20 World Cup title in 2022, will ply his trade for Rajasthan Royals (RR). He will be joined by fellow English wicketkeeper-batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore, whom RR bought at a base price of INR 40 lakh at the 2024 auction.
In the tournament’s latest English recruit, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Phil Salt as a replacement player for Jason Roy, who has opted out of the 17th season of the IPL for personal reasons. The wicketkeeper-batter has been bought for INR 1.5 crore (roughly £141,000) after going unsold at last December’s bidding war.
