Watch: Rohit Sharma Flicks James Anderson For Effortless Six Over Mid-Wicket In Fourth-Innings Chase | IND Vs ENG

Watch: In the fourth-innings chase at Ranchi, Rohit Sharma flicked James Anderson for an audacious six over mid-wicket.

England scored 353 runs at Ranchi, reducing India to 177-7, but the hosts recovered strongly with 307 runs and overwhelmed the tourists with 145 runs on the third day. Chasing 192, India’s openers were 40-0 in eight overs off the stumps.

Ben Stokes opened the bowling on the fourth morning along with James Anderson and Shoaib Bashir. He scored five runs from the first two overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal bowled the first ball of the third period to score a run and Rohit Sharma played his next two balls.

The Ranchi pitch offered a variety of bounces, but unlike many Indian pitches, the ball occasionally stayed low and did not bounce clumsily. Joe Root and Dhruv Jurrell countered this by taking the lead with walkovers in their respective first innings.

Rohit had a similar reaction during India’s chase in the bottom of the fourth innings. On the third night he had complete control of Tom Hartley’s ball and played it all the way to the midwicket fence.

This time, he faced Anderson in the middle of the attack and took a bold shot that went over the fielder. This was a shot he made several times on the power play in last year’s World Cup.

This shot was risky because if the ball had been kept lower than Rohit expected, it would not have been high enough to clear the fielder. But this time, the bounce was true, and the ball went into the stands in his first six for the Indians.

At the time of writing, India is 67-0 with Rohit winning 42 and Jaiswal 25.
