Sarfaraz Ahmed Taken Off For Concussion After Mohammad Wasim Celebration Throw Hits Him On The Head

Watch: Quetta Gladiators wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed walked off the field after suffering a concussion when a celebratory throw by teammate Mohammad Wasim Jr hit him on the head in the 2024 PSL clash against Multan Sultans yesterday (February 26).

The incident occurred during the final over of Multan’s innings when batsman Leeza Hendricks flicked the ball from Mohammad Amir towards deep midwicket where Mohammad Wasim Jr. was. He caught the ball cleanly and stopped Hendricks’ knock of four (6) for 72.

Excited about the catch, Wasim threw the ball in the air, but it hit the wicketkeeper, Sarfaraz, who was only wearing a hat on his head. The former Pakistan captain immediately fell to the ground with his hands around his head in pain while being treated by a physiotherapist.

The match was suspended for a while as Sarfaraz underwent a concussion test. He eventually walked away and was ejected from the match. Sajjad Ali, who was a concussion substitute, batted and scored two runs in Quetta’s innings.

Sarfaraz was taken to the hospital for a CT scan after the incident.

Quetta could not catch up with Multan’s total score of 180 and lost the first match of the season.
