Watch: Rahul Dravid Smiles In Amusement At Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Twin Reverse Sweeps | IND vs ENG

Watch: India head coach Rahul Dravid smiled in amusement as Yashasvi Jaiswal brought out two audacious reverse sweeps across three deliveries en route to his third century in Test cricket, on day three of the Rajkot Test.

Jaishwal was India’s star with the bat on the third night and switched gears after tea to put India in an advantageous position. By the time he had to retire at 104 due to injury, the gap with India was already over 300. He finished the day with 196-2, extending his lead to 322. There are two full days of games left.

Jaiswal’s double reverse sweep

In the 33rd over of India’s innings, Jaiswal decided to get creative and attack Rehan Ahmed in the same way that England batsmen dealt with Indian spinners. On the third pitch, he dodged a short ball with a reverse pull and sent it toward the deep fence. One ball later, Jaiswal set up again and swept Rehan again in the same area and he reached 88.

The camera panned to Dravid sitting with batting coach Vikram Latour in the dressing room. As soon as Jaiswal hit his second shot, Latour tapped Dravid on the shoulder. Dravid smiled sheepishly, amused by how his student’s approach to Test cricket was so different back then.

Jaishwar hit two centuries and two centuries in his first seven Tests. After adjusting his hip at the end of the day, he is likely to be back in bat on the fourth morning after the next wicket falls.
