Watch: Glenn Phillips took a one-handed screamer at gully to give New Zealand a vital breakthrough in the second innings of the second Test against South Africa today (February 15).
Phillips pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Keegan Petersen for 43 after the South Africa No. 6 along with David Bedingham stitched together a 98-run stand for the fifth wicket. Off the second ball of the 60th over, sent down by Matt Henry, Petersen cut a back-of-a-length delivery to the right of Phillips, who was stationed at gully.
Phillips, who has made it a habit of taking excellent catches, flew to his right and extended out his right hand to complete another brilliant take as South Africa lost their fifth wicket for 202.
The New Zealand fielder had taken another such catch in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Hamilton when he sent back Clyde Fortuin with another one-handed catch at gully.
Following Petersenās dismissal today, South Africa quickly wrapped up their innings, losing their next five wickets for 32 runs. The Proteas, with a new-look team, have set New Zealand a target of 267 to win the series 2-0.
