New Zealand’s ace batsman Kane Williamson is enjoying a dream run in the longer format. The New Zealand batsman has been in great form in red-ball cricket, scoring back-to-back hundreds in the opening Test against South Africa at Bay Oval in Mt Maunganui.
Kane Williamson scored 109 runs in the first innings off 132 balls, including 12 fours and a six. The veteran elevated his game and scored yet another century of goals. The right-handed batsman scored 118 runs off 289 balls. The Blackcaps got his seven wickets and in the second innings he built a massive lead of 528 runs.
Kane Williamson’s 31st Test century marked many important milestones for him in Test cricket. The right-handed batsman achieved his 18th Test century at home, putting him at 6th place in the all-time list of Test hundreds.
In 46 home Tests, Kane Williamson has scored 4487 runs at an average of 69.03. Legendary Australian cricketer Don Bradman and former England captain Joe Root both spent 18 centuries in their homeland. Mahela Jayawardene, Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting share his record of 2300 runs.
Early in the first innings, Kane Williamson scores his 30th Test century, surpassing Australian legend Don Bradman and Indian batting champion Virat Kohli on the all-time 100 list. I did. This milestone was achieved with the skill and finesse that characterized Williamson’s performance and underlined his status as one of the world’s best batsmen in all formats.
Kane Williamson was also the second fastest to score 31 Test points, alongside Australia’s Steve Smith. Sachin Tendulkar holds that record, reaching the milestone with 165 innings. The veteran New Zealand batsman became the fifth New Zealand batsman to score two centuries in a single match. Other members are Glenn Turner, Geoff Howarth, Andrew Jones and Peter Fulton.
Kane Williamson has had a great career in red-ball cricket. His path to this point has been marked by numerous records and awards. The 33-year-old now has more Test experience than any other New Zealander, having been tested for more than 200 years.
He had played 96 Tests and scored 29,000 points, taking his total to 31,000 points before playing against the Proteas this time. His average of 55.13 points ranks him sixth on the list, and at the top he is joined by great dons led by Bradman, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara and Steve Smith. The cricket superstar takes a backseat.
