Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has settled the injury controversy that ruled him out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, reported Soccernet.ng.
Sadiq was included in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad for the African Cup of Nations. He was one of the stars expected to brighten up the Ivorian tournament. Just before AFCON, the 26-year-old showed great form and for the club he scored two goals.
Unfortunately, Sadiq had to withdraw from the tournament a few days before the tournament due to a knee injury. News from the Super Eagles camp suggests he should be out for at least three weeks. In the end, Peseiro called up Trabzonspor star Paul Onuachu as his replacement.
However, in a similar development, Real Sociedad released a video of Sadiq training at the club’s premises. Judging by the intensity of his running, it was clear that the former Almeria player was in good form.

Sadiq came to clarify the matter. He says he never faked an injury and was just following the instructions of his medical team.
Sadiq played 18 minutes in Real Sociedad’s 2-0 loss to Osasuna in the Copa del Rey two days ago, and is expected to return to the starting lineup against Celta Vigo on January 20. .
