West Indies Legend Kieron Pollard Likely To Join England As Consultant Coach For 2024 T20 World Cup – Reports

Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard could be hired as England’s consultant coach during the 2024 T20 World Cup between West Indies and the United States. Jos Buttler’s team will enter the main event as defending champions after defeating Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final.

Kieron Pollard is considered one of the brightest minds in the T20 format due to his vast experience and extensive knowledge of the shorter formats of the game. A West Indies all-rounder, he has played for MI New York, MI Emirates and other clubs around the world, and is also the batting coach for the Indians.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the English government has identified Mr Pollard as someone who could provide important information about the situation on the ground. In the last T20 World Cup, the defending champions used Australian legend Michael Hussey in a similar role. The move seems to have worked out well for Jos Buttler’s England team.

Pollard was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup. The former West Indies captain has vast experience in this format and is considered a legend of the game having won his championship for multiple franchises around the world.

Signing Pollard will help captain Jos Buttler, who is struggling to adapt to the West Indies situation. Sometimes the surface is slow and low, as was the case in his last T20I, while in other matches the batsman has a very strong day. Many of the English cricketers haven’t played enough cricket for the West Indies, so Pollard will be an important figure for them.

England are looking to make use of Kieron Pollard’s wealth of T20 experience and become a valuable asset as they aim for victory. England will be aiming for more success in the shorter formats next year after a disappointing showing in this year’sODI World Cup.

That intention did not go as expected as England lost both the One-Day International and T20 series against West Indies recently. However, Jos Buttler and his team will be encouraged by the fact that his first ICC win came at West Indies, who won his first T20 World Cup in 2010.
