Sauber has posted a cryptic message about the FIA’s 2024 F1 entry list after it revealed its team name when it announced it.
With Alfa Romeo withdrawing from F1, the Sauber name is expected to officially return to the results list in 2024. Accordingly, the Swiss team announced its name when the FIA announced the provisional list of participants for the new season.
The new name is “Stake F1 Kick Sauber” and the chassis name is Kick Sauber C44. They extended their contract with Stake and Kick and also gave him naming rights, but it’s unclear if that will be his final name.
The name Alfa Romeo will remain on the website and social media profiles for now as the name will not change until January 1, 2024. But before that happens, Sauber has published a cryptic post, pointing out that the name in question is not final.
It is unclear whether this is just a publicity stunt to reveal a new identity on January 1st. So it remains to be seen whether there will be further name changes or if a new look will just be unveiled. F1 fans weren’t too happy with the name announced by the Swiss team.
“The recently announced team name appears to be attracting a lot of attention,” the statement said. “We’re not ready to announce the final results yet, but we know what’s at stake. Rest assured, we believe this team has the most exciting team identity we’ve ever seen. We’re committed to unleashing. Gone are the days of short and simple. We’re cooking a feast.”
