Chukwueze’s last-ditch effort keeps AC Milan in Europe

Milan needed a win to stay in Europe and Chukwueze delivered it

Super Eagles striker Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to score the winning goal in AC Milan’s 2-1 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park, reports Soccernet.ng Reported.

AC Milan traveled to St. James’ Park for their final Champions League group stage match of the season. The Rossoneri needed a win to advance to the Round of 16, but had to hope for a result in their favor in the other Group F match, between Borussia Dortmund and PSG.

After the return of Portuguese star Rafael Leao, Chukwueze started on the bench as Christian Pulisic started on the right side of AC Milan’s attack.

The first few minutes of the match were dire, although both sides tried to create good chances. However, it was Joelinton’s goal in the 33rd minute that gave the home team the overall lead within the first half.

The Magpies took the lead at the break. But in the second half, Christian Pulisic scored the equalizer to make it 1-1 and the game was set up for a frenetic conclusion.

Milan were desperately looking for a goal, and Coach Pioli brought Chukwueze into the game in the final stages as AC Milan looked to win. This was the only result that ultimately allowed them to stay in Europe this season.

Coach Pioli’s decision to use Chukwueze paid off as the Nigerian striker scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, securing victory for the former European champions.

The former Villarreal player received a great shot from Noah Okafor and rolled the ball past Martin Dubravka to seal the victory for the Rossoneri.

Chukwueze sealed the victory for Partenopeas, winning 2-1. Unfortunately, this victory could only secure them a spot in the Europa League, as they finished third behind PSG, who drew with Borussia Dortmund.
