Watch: Kyle Mayers delivered an explosive cameo at the start of West Indies’ chase against England in the first T20I, notching four sixes in his 21-ball 35, including two enormous blows out of the ground.
After the tourists got off to a strong start, West Indies bounced back in the second half of England’s innings, winning 112 for 2 for a total of 171 runs. England ran out of the blocks and scored 77 points in the power play, leaving West Indies on the back foot. It shines that you are ready to surpass them.
Brandon King took over as Sam Curran’s 16th season opener, and Meyers got to work right away. He attacked his second ball faced and Will sent the off-spin of his jacks over the side of his legs and into the roof of his stand at Kensington Oval.
This hit was recorded at 99 meters, and the next hit was even bigger. Taymar Mills fumbled and Mayers flicked the ball away with ease, but this time he had to be substituted again as the ball went 103 meters.
His speed didn’t slow down even after the power play ended. He hit two sixes off Rehan Ahmed’s first three balls. However, the fun quickly ended when England’s other star player, Adil Rashid, caught him against the fence.
In the end, West Indies easily chased down the target with four wickets and 11 balls to spare.
