The 24-year-old reportedly received a gesture of support from his club, which allowed him to attend the event despite the match being so close.

Napoli’s assessment shows the importance of the award, even as the team tries to close the gap on Real Madrid, who lead Group C with 15 points.

However, Osimhen is expected to return to Napoli immediately after the event and join up with his teammates for the next match.

Osimhen is a strong candidate for this award, with high expectations from footballers, legends and football lovers in Nigeria.

However, he will face stiff competition from Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi has also been recognized for his contribution to Morocco’s reach of the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and the quarter-finals of the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

At today’s ceremony, the winners of this prestigious Africa Award will be decided, and all eyes will be on the football world, who are eagerly awaiting the announcement.
