The Buffaloes scored four goals against RWD Molenbeek, but Orbán was not on the scoresheet
Ghent manager Hein Vanhaesebruck has explained that Super Eagles striker Gift Orbán was unlucky not to score in Sunday’s 4-0 win over RWD Molenbeek. Soccernet.ng reported.
Ahead of Saturday’s Belgian Jupiler League game against RWD Molenbeek in Ghent, Orbán has failed to score in his last two starts. But against Molenbeek’s team, which had conceded 27 goals in 16 games, the former Stabek player had a good chance to break the drought. But it didn’t work out that way.
Goals from Hugo Kupers and Hyun-Seok Hong gave the Buffaloes a two-goal lead at halftime. Second-half goals from Tariq Tissoudari and Julien de Saat then gave Gento his 4–0 victory.
Nigerian star Orban played 76 minutes and failed to find the back of the net despite having seven shots on target. The 21-year-old hitman took almost a third of Gento’s shots, but couldn’t convert any of them.
Ghent coach Van Hasebruck was satisfied with his team’s result, but disappointed that Orbán did not score an own goal.
“Not everything was perfect, but today I don’t want to focus too much on the negatives,” Van Hasebrouck told Sporza per Voetbal Primeur.
“We also had the misfortune of having the ball hit the post. For Orbán himself, it was especially disappointing not to score a goal.”
Gento’s next game is Thursday’s Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Orbán will be keen to get back on the scoresheet as it is where he has been happiest this season.
