Watch: Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth were involved in a heated exchange during the Eliminator of Legends League Cricket 2023 in Surat on Wednesday, December 7.
Gautam Gambhir, who played for India Capitals, scored 6 runs and 4 runs in the first two balls that Sreesanth played for Gujarat Giants. Gambhir played the ball straight to the fielder at short cover as Sreesanth followed with another wide ball.
When Sreesanth returned to his bowling position, he turned around and appeared to say something to Gambhir, who stared back and gestured with his hands.
A few overs later, the two got into a long exchange and had to be separated by Gujarat wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel and the field umpire. Sreesanth was visibly upset by the chatter and had to be dragged away by his teammates. He later admitted that Gambhir kept calling him rude names without any provocation.
Sreesanth was given a lifetime ban by the BCCI in the 2013 IPL spot match-fixing case but was later acquitted. His suspension was reduced to seven years in 2019.
