Shan Masood Brings Up 150 With Glorious Cover Drive On Pakistan Captaincy Debut

Watch: Playing against the Australian Prime Minister’s XI at Canberra, Pakistan captain Shan Masood top-scored with 156 not out in a team total of 324-6.

A somewhat surprising choice as Pakistan Test captain. His Massoud’s first assignment is a tour of Australia. It started with his four-day match at Manuka’s Oval, where Masood won the toss and was elected to bat, and at 1 for 18 he was dismissed in his eight overs.

Masood added 58 for the second wicket with Abdullah Shafiq (38) and another 92 for the third wicket with Babar Azam (40), who replaced him at the top. The first fifty took 79 balls from Masood and the second another 90 balls.

At the other end, Sarfaraz Ahmed hit a 47-ball 41, but Masood continued even after the fifth wicket fell. He played a great cover drive for four against Nathan McAndrew, who returned to share the second new ball, and in the 86th over he reached 150.

Masood finished the day with 156 off 235 balls, 13 fours and a six. After losing Faheem Ashraf in the final over of the day, Pakistan were trailing at 324-6. The Prime team was won by Jordan Buckingham with his 3-63.

Masood has scored two double hundreds in all cricket matches recorded for Derbyshire in the April 2022 County Championship. Against Sussex he scored 239 points and against Leicestershire he scored 219 points.
