‘Disappointed But It Gives Me Freedom’ – Will Jacks Opens Up On Central Contract Snub

Will Jacks has opened up on his disappointment at not receiving an ECB central contract in the deals handed out by the board last month.

In October, it was announced that 29 players had been offered some type of men’s contract and 18 players had accepted multi-year contracts. Jacks was not named on the list but made his international debut in all three formats in the last 14 months, making 12 appearances for England during that time.

Speaking to

MailOnline, Jax said: “I was hoping to get a central contract, but there are a lot of talented cricketers and I can understand why I didn’t get a contract.” There are a lot of fast bowlers, so injuries are a concern. If you want to take care of them.

“It was disappointing, but it gave me freedom. There are a lot of franchises, and no one wants to talk about them, but there’s a lot of money involved and careers can be short. All is involved. The World Cup is huge so playing T20 cricket is very important for me at the moment. The current state of the game and the world definitely suits me. I’ve always been a kid who loved hitting. ”

Jacks last played for England in the home ODI series against Ireland in September. He scored 94 runs in the second match of the series and was selected for England’s white-ball series to be held in the West Indies. He also picked up 6 wickets in his Test debut against Pakistan in December 2022.

Jacks missed IPL 2023, where he was scheduled to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore, after sustaining a hip injury on the way to Bangladesh from the Test series in New Zealand.

“It was a tendon injury, which is incredibly rare for a cricketer,” Jacks said. “It was a pure fatigue injury, especially since I’m a hitter.

“After 40 flights last winter, my body was at its limit. Something had to give. So I learned a lesson about recovery. I have grown up, and in the future I need to take care of myself: before and after, stretching, going to the pool, eating delicious food.”

England’s tour of the West Indies begins this weekend on Sunday 3rd December.
