Australia made significant changes to their T20I squad for the ongoing series in India, replacing six cricketers with four.
Australia will be without six of the 15-man squad originally announced for the five-match T20I series in India. According to a cricket.com.au report strong>, they have been replaced by his other 4 units, leaving only her 13 units.
Steve Smith and Adam Zampa were sent off after the second game in Thiruvananthapuram, and Josh Philippe and Ben McDermott were flown in.
Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis and Sean Abbott will depart after the3rd T20I in Guwahati. Australia sent Ben Dwarshuis and Chris Green in his place.
An off-spin bowling all-rounder and newly appointed captain of the Sydney Thunder, Green has never played for Australia but has appeared in 190 Twenty20 matches across multiple leagues. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in 2020 as well, but did not feature in any matches. His numbers – 159 wickets at 27.40, economy 6.98. 1,168 runs, strike rate 130 – an impressive record.
Doershuis, also from New South Wales, is a left-arm bowler with a 2/24 prowess. He took 132 wickets in 110 matches. He is yet to be given an IPL cap even though he has been snapped up multiple times by Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. In his only T20I for Australia in Lahore last year, he conceded 42 runs in three overs without a wicket.
Of the 15-man Australian team that won the World Cup on November 19, only Travis Head is still in India.
India leads the series 2-0. The remaining three matches will be played in Guwahati (November 28), Raipur (December 1) and Bengaluru (December 3). His five T20Is round out his year in which both teams played against each other in five Test matches and eight ODIs. This is for men’s teams only.
