Former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan believes India captain Rohit Sharma deserves to win the World Cup as he has prepared meticulously for the major tournament. The Men in Blue gave their all throughout the tournament but fell short in an exciting match against Australia in Ahmedabad.
Throughout the tournament, Rohit Sharma stood out as a selfless and exceptionally talented Indian leader in this mega event. The loss was a bittersweet moment for the Indian players, especially star players like Kohli, Rohit and Siraj, who shed tears as he realized how much time and effort he had put into the sport. Although they won all 10 games leading up to the final, they were not able to win the championship.
Answering a question from the Hindustan Times on the sidelines of the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2023, Mitchell McClenaghan, who he briefly played with for the Mumbai Indians, said thatRohit Sharma won the Championship. In recent years, he has made every effort to bring about a turnaround in Indian cricket, but he has not been able to win.
“I feel really bad for Rohit especially because I know how much preparation he puts into the tournament and if he can achieve that, I know it would have been a big trophy for him.” From that point of view, Ray feels sorry for him for not getting the results he wanted and perhaps he has helped turn Indian cricket around in the last few years. When asked about his involvement with the Mumbai Indians, Mitchell McClenaghan said that he is well known for his work with the team. He also said that he is currently completing a coaching course and may consider an opportunity to reunite withMumbai Indiansin the future.
“I’m often asked on Twitter when I’m coming back, but I’m currently taking a coaching course and trying to learn more about that side of the game. And it’s a sport that I would like to practice in the future as well. So whether it applies locally within the home or globally within the T20 line and who knows. So MI is definitely It would be a goal of mine to work with that franchise again,” added Mitchell McElnahan.
Mitchell McClenaghan signed with Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2015 season and played a key role in Mumbai Indians winning three titles during his six-year stint in the IPL. In 56 matches he took 71 wickets until he was released by them at the end of the 2020 season.
