To secure Nigeria’s spot in the upcoming African Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation has named 21 players to represent the Super Falcons in the final qualifying round, Soccernet.ng reported.
After head coach Randy Waldrum stepped down due to an ongoing contract dispute, coach Justin Madugu will lead the team in back-to-back games against the Cape Verde Senior Women’s National Team.
The nine-time African champions will open the 13th round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Final Qualification with a home game on Thursday, November 30, at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The second leg is scheduled to take place in Praia on Tuesday 5th December.
After overwhelming their Ethiopian opponents with a resounding 5-1 aggregate victory, the Super Falcons are gearing up for the challenge. The first leg in Addis Ababa ended in his 1-1 draw, followed by his stunning 4-0 win over ‘Lucy’ in Abuja.
All 21 invited players have been directed to head to the team’s camp in Abuja from November 25th to 27th.
The Falcons have an impressive track record of qualifying for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations since their inception in 1998. They have won 9 of her 12 titles ever held.
