UFC recently announced a partnership with leading beer brand Bud Light to be the official beer of the UFC. However, due to a marketing decision Bud Light made earlier this year, UFC fans did not welcome the move. And the community made their feelings known. But White is now reacting.
Dana White defends $100 million Bud Light sponsorship deal with UFC despite criticism
White recently appeared on an episode of the podcast with Theo Fung. The two discussed a wide range of topics, from martial arts to economics. And when it comes to business decisions, White defended his own decision to work with the controversial beer brand.
In response to the criticism, Mr. White said, “It’s like the whole Bud Light deal.” You know, people are talking crap right now. They’re gonna say shit like sellout. Trust me, I am the person who will suffer the most from the sale. Bud Light was the right choice for me, they are exactly the person I want to be with right now, and we are very similar in terms of core values. ”
Mr. White then explained how the two companies are aligned on their core values. He said Bud Light employs more than 65,000 Americans. That alone should be enough to seal the deal. They also do a lot of work for veterans, first responders, and their families. These are all important aspects for the UFC as well.
White wondered why people would want to destroy a brand that had accomplished so much in the past over a single decision. So it’s clear from these comments that the deal between the UFC and Bud Wright is about more than money.
What do you think about Dana White’s comments about the Bud Light deal? Do you think he’s right or is he just justifying his actions?
