Unlike other matches, there is a reserve day if a semi-final or the final of the 2023 World Cup is rained out.
As of this writing, theSecond Semi-Final of the 2023 World Cup between Australia and South Africa has been suspended due to rain. At this point South Africa were 44-4 after 14 overs.
Mitchell Starc (2-18) and Josh Hazlewood (2-12) shared the wickets of Themba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen, but none was not exceeded.
What happens if the semi-finals do not continue on the scheduled date of November 16th? It would have to rain heavily for that to happen. Article 13.7.3 of the Playing Conditions for the ICC Men’s World Cup states: “His 60-minute extra time period will apply to all matches during the event, except for the semi-finals and finals. “It has been described as. -Finals and finals – 120 minutes extra time. ”
But what happens if the match is not continued despite the two-hour extension?Unlike league matches, there will be a preliminary day for the semi-finals and finals. To quote clause 13.6: “Semi-finals and finals will be allocated a reserve date, on which day the incomplete match will be continued from the scheduled date.” No other matches will be assigned a reserve date.
“If a reserve day is allocated, and it is not possible to bowl the minimum number of overs required for the match, every effort will be made to reduce the required overs and complete the match on the scheduled date ” The game will end on the scheduled preliminary date.
“If the game starts on the scheduled day and after the interruption the overs have been reduced but no more can be played, the game will be restarted on the reserve day from where the last ball was bowled.”
p >But what happens if the match is not restarted on the reserve day, or if it is restarted, both teams do not reach the ODI minimum of 20 overs? Section 16.10.3 The clause states: “If the match is canceled or there is no result at the end of the preliminary day, the team that advances to the final will be the team that finished higher in the league stage.”
To summarize: 2 hours of extra time, followed by a spare day. If this fails, South Africa, second in the points table, and Australia, third, will qualify for the final.
India has already qualified for the final, which will be held on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
